Alexander Constantine
E-mail: Alexander@2cc.org
Since childhood, Alexander Constantine has been blessed with a love of music, related gifts, and a desire to share his talents. He began playing piano professionally at age 12, became a church organist at 15, and co-wrote a musical as a high school senior.
By graduation from high school in suburban Chicago, Alexander foresaw a career integrating church music, teaching and musical theater. That vision has come true as he has mastered musical performance, direction and writing in a series of positions leading to his 2002 appointment as Second Church music director.
Alexander started building his community-service repertoire while studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rockford College. After classes, he lent his diverse talents to a church, community theater, children's theater and various charities. Church musical direction and community fund raising have remained important in Alexander's life. A few years ago, he composed, wrote and produced a CD titled "Hug Me With a Lullaby," whose proceeds benefited children with serious illnesses.
A Greenwich resident since 1999, Alexander was assistant music director of Christ Church Greenwich before joining the Second Church staff. He also continues to serve as a choral director and theatrical musical director for Brunswick School, as well as music director for the Grace Notes, a local women's a capella group.
Alexander's Second Church role carries both liturgical responsibilities and opportunities to contribute to social aspects of the church community. In addition to directing the Adult Choir and providing and directing music at worship services, he arranges for special performances by guest artists and seasonal musical offerings. He also enlives the church's annual outdoor Independence Day celebration as leader of "Alexander's Ragtime Band."
