The Netflix series “Thirteen Reasons Why” features a young girl who commits suicide but flashes back to the thirteen different reasons why she decided to take her own life. It has hit the mainstream media, in part because of its edgy and sometimes graphic content.
As each show progresses the plot thickens and you are left wondering: what happened to this girl? Is this really what is happening in high school these days? Why didn’t someone step up and help her? How come her parents had no inclination that she would take her own life?
The show is controversial, but raises important questions for communities about the challenges our young people face. Please join us for a community conversation with educators, counselors, clergy and teens as we seek to support our kids.
